Thirty One female students infected with “mass hysteria”

Mass hysteria in faridpurThirty one female students fell sick by the ‘mass hysteria’ disease this morning at local Khalilpur High School under Sadar upazilla and were shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital (FMCH) for treatment.

According to hospital sources, the sick students are being given treatment and condition of none is so much serious.

The Headmaster of the school Md. Siddikur Rahman told journalists that when the students entered the rooms at 10 am after the assembly was over, suddenly one by one started falling sick with respiratory problem and were shifted to FMCH.

In a similar incident, 73 students of Shibrampur R.D. Academy under Sadar upazilla on last January 19 fell sick and had to be treated at FMCH without any casualties. Seven female students of R.D. Academy are still under treatment at FMCH.

The doctors of the hospital described the sickness as sympathetic and psychological which in medical terms called mass hysteria.
