It would help ensuring education of the children of the government workers who do not get any support, neither institutional nor financial, from their mills or factories, he said.

The commission considered to provide the allowance to the workers of state-owned mills and factories to rationalise with the facilities received by the corporate sector employees for their children’s education, he explained.

Besides, some state-owned factories have their own schools and colleges mainly to facilitate education of their workers’ children, he said, adding that the mills and factories under the ministry of textile and jute provide Tk 300 in allowance to permanent workers to facilitate their children’s education.

In the report, the commission also proposed the wages of the workers at state-owned mills and factories in 16 grades — Tk 8,300 for the lowest grate and Tk 11,200 for the highest grade.
